For couples who are planning a winter wedding, there are a number of ways to make the event beautiful and memorable. At the same time, the cold weather also means that there is a higher chance of making mistakes when planning the wedding. Here are a few tips on what you should avoid when planning a winter wedding:

• No plans for bad weather – Whether you’re having an indoor or outdoor wedding, it’s always a good idea to plan ahead and be prepared for ice storms and snow. If you decide on an outdoor wedding, make sure you have a backup indoor space to move the ceremony in case of bad weather.
  
  Even if you plan on having the whole event indoors, there are a number of problems you need to anticipate. Make sure the space gets proper heating in case of a blizzard of extreme drops in temperature.
  
  You also need to consider the fact that your guests might encounter problems getting to the event in case of unpleasant weather. This is why you should go for a venue that has reasonable cancellation and rescheduling policies for inclement weather.
  
  
• Not choosing appropriate attires – Most wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses are not designed for cooler weather. You might have dresses that expose the shoulders, arms, and legs; which might not be the most ideal for winter weddings.
  
  In addition to the dresses, be prepared with stylish, coordinated jackets, wraps, or shawls to keep yourself and your bridesmaids warm. If you are going for floor-length dresses, have your bridesmaids wear warm, comfy tights underneath. Also, make sure they’re prepared with a change of shoes. Get them to bring boots or sneakers in case they have to walk on ice and snow.
  
  
• Too much heating – With winter weddings, your guest might come prepared with warm clothing for the event. And it’s highly likely that you will have a heated venue to welcome them. This means that you might end up creating an uncomfortable experience for your guests.
  
  You can prepare for this by letting your guests know well ahead of time what type of clothing they might want to wear. Otherwise, you could even try talking to the venue owners about temperature controls beforehand.
